An extension only works if the ground beyond it also slopes away. Discharging onto ground that slopes back toward the house has moved the problem a few feet and solved nothing. Check the grade before buying anything.
Flexible extensions
A corrugated, accordion-style tube that stretches out and compresses back for mowing. Cheapest option, no tools, and the sensible first thing to try on a lot that already drains reasonably.
The trade-offs are real though: corrugation slows flow compared with smooth pipe, they lie flat and are easy to mow over or trip on, and in hard-freeze regions a flat-lying extension is the most likely part of the system to hold ice and split.
